I have to admit, I have been terrible at doing reviews of the subscriptions I get. Last month products were missing from my Ipsy, and while they were very responsive, shipping was slow. Last months sample society’s post got over looked as I wasn’t posting a lot due to the wedding. So, bare with me while I get back on track.

If you haven’t heard of Sample Society you should really look into it! Sample Society is a subscription box by Allure. You get the standard 5 deluxe size beauty products, these all seem to be higher end products. You also get a mini-mag which tells you all the details of each product, including why they chose the products for this months box. Lastly, you get a coupon code for $10 off $50 in their shop. Its a pretty good deal for $15. I have yet to use one of the coupons but I’m debating on picking up one of the Lorac Pro palettes with it or one holiday items I’ve been eying. Decisions, decisions.

This month I received the following:

Malin + Goetz Bergamot Body Wash

I have received other products from past subscriptions and really enjoy this brand. They have one of my favorite healing lip products. While I haven’t used this body wash, it does have a nice citrus scent. I’m pretty picky about the scents of my body wash, as I do not like anything to strong, and this seems like something I would pick up. The 18 dollar price tag for the full size 8oz of product is a big turn off.

Calvin Klein Reveal Fragrance

I really enjoy this fragrance. It isn’t over powering yet has sophisticated scent. (know what I mean??) Its the type when you walk past someone and wonder what they are wearing. This may be going on my wish list.

MDSolarSciences MD Creme Mineral Beauty Balm SPF 50 Deluxe Sample

This is just an OK product. It doesn’t give much coverage but it doesn’t claim to either. Plus Allure even tells you it doesn’t cover much, but they chose it for the SPF. Its rather light for me but it will make a good primer, as it evens out my skin tone nicely. It rather blurs imperfections than covers them. I don’t hate it but I definitely can’t wear it alone.

Alterna Caviar Omega Oil Deluxe

I put this on my hair this morning before blow drying and I can’t say I hate it. My hair feels nice and has some shine to it. This product claims to a treatment oil that contains a highly concentrated dose of omega-3 and C22 fatty acids to nourish hair and combat thin and brittle hair. Well if it wasn’t for the $38 dollar price tag, I would probably go out and get more. Its never too early to start using anti-aging products, right?? In all seriousness, I will continue to use the sample and see how it goes. Ive been using a bit of oil to help control my hair and add shine, so we’ll see how it compares to the others or if its just the run of the mill.

LORAC Cobra Mascara Sample

I’m not entirely sure how impressed I am with this mascara. While I do find it really nifty that the mascara wand is in the shape of a cobra head (cue in the name of the mascara), it was not the easiest to use. My first thought was “which way do I hold this thing?!”…. Definitely a wand that will take some getting use to. I only applied one coat this morning so I’m sure I didn’t get the full effect but I only noticed a bit of volume and length…nothing too shocking. Maybe if I had figured out the wand I would have gotten better results. I can say that my lashes do not feel hard and brittle like some leave your lashes. There was also no clumping, which is also a big win. I’ll have to keep using it to decide if I would purchase the full size…. and apply more than one coat. The verdict is still out on this one.

I’ll have more subscription box reviews coming your way this month! Ipsy hasn’t shipped yet and I’ve subscribed to Starlooks Starbox as well. I’m looking forward to receiving it and seeing how it compares. The Starlooks box consists solely of Starlooks products. Each box ranges from $35-$100 in value each month, while you only pay $15 plus shipping. I love trying out new products and subscription boxes let you try them without paying full price for something you may not love.

Stay tuned for more!
